hazmat logistics

Certified handling for dangerous goods, done right

Dangerous goods require precision at every step — classification, packaging, documentation, and carrier compliance. G-Star Express moves hazmat cargo by air, ocean, and road under IATA DGR and IMDG regulations, with a dedicated DG team handling each consignment from origin to destination.

Undeclared dangerous goods are refused and may incur penalties

If your cargo contains dangerous goods and is not declared at booking, it will be refused at the terminal, may be returned to origin at your cost, and can trigger regulatory penalties. Always disclose the nature of your cargo in advance so we can plan compliance and pickup correctly.

what we handle

The nine UN classes of dangerous goods

Dangerous goods are classified into nine UN hazard classes. G-Star Express handles most of these classes by air, ocean, or road, subject to carrier and route approval. Confirm with our DG team before booking to check availability on your lane.

1

Explosives

Class 1 — Division 1.1 through 1.6. Handled under strict military and civil authority permits, with pre-approved routes only.

2

Gases

Class 2 — Flammable, non-flammable, and toxic gases including aerosols. Requires pressure-rated cylinders and ventilated transport.

3

Flammable Liquids

Class 3 — Paints, solvents, fuels, and alcohol-based products. Packed in UN-rated containers with secondary containment.

4

Flammable Solids

Class 4 — Self-reactive substances and water-reactive materials. Requires temperature-controlled and moisture-controlled storage.

5

Oxidizers & Peroxides

Class 5 — Combustion-supporting materials and organic peroxides, kept away from heat sources and incompatible cargo.

6

Toxic & Infectious

Class 6 — Poisons, biological samples, and infectious substances. Requires cold chain, hazard labels, and trained carrier crews.

7

Radioactive

Class 7 — Radioactive material. Handled only with a valid shipper licence and route approvals from relevant nuclear authorities.

8

Corrosives

Class 8 — Acids, batteries, and caustic substances. Packed in UN-certified containers with acid-resistant liners and inner packaging.

9

Miscellaneous

Class 9 — Lithium batteries, dry ice, magnetized material, and other regulated substances with specific IATA/IMDG requirements.

our process

A five-step process built around compliance

1

Declaration & Classification

You disclose your cargo in advance. Our DG team assigns the correct UN number, proper shipping name, hazard class, and packing group based on the safety data sheet.

2

Packaging & Marking

Your goods are packed in UN-rated packaging with the required hazard labels, orientation arrows, and shipper/consignee information. We verify packaging against the applicable code before handover.

3

Documentation

We prepare the Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods (IATA) or Multimodal Dangerous Goods Form (IMDG), along with any permits, licences, or certificates required by the destination country.

4

Carrier & Route Approval

Not every carrier accepts every DG class. We match your cargo to carriers that are licensed and approved for that specific class, and plan routes that comply with local transport regulations.

5

Transit & Delivery

The shipment moves under real-time tracking with DG-trained handlers at every handoff. Final delivery includes proof of delivery and all regulatory paperwork for your records.
